About V.Stanley Paulus

V. Stanley Paulus is a seasoned professional with a unique blend of experience in both the pharmaceutical and aviation industries. A pharmacist by profession, Mr. Paulus ventured into the aviation field in 1983 and quickly established himself as a key player in the industry. His first significant role was as the General Sales Agent (GSA) for Maldives Airways, where he made valuable contributions to the growth of air cargo services in the region. In the early 1990s, when Air India ceased accepting cargo due to the tragic bombing of the Air India Aircraft Kaniskar over the Atlantic Ocean, Mr. Paulus stepped in to help the exporters in Trivandrum by facilitating the movement of cargo. In 1992, he made a pioneering move by introducing the Flying Cargo freighter at Trivandrum Airport to ensure that local exporters could still transport their goods to the Middle East during the peak seasons of Onam and Vishu.

Key Milestones in His Career:

  • 1994: Mr. Paulus became the District Manager for Sky Cab Pvt. Ltd., a freighter company. His efforts were instrumental in receiving the first-ever permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to handle aircraft at Trivandrum Airport.
  • 1994: He took on the role of Cargo Manager for Air Maldives, overseeing the handling of cargo at Trivandrum and managing the transportation of 70 to 100 tons of cargo per week to the Maldives and the Middle East.
  • 2000: When Air Maldives ceased operations, Mr. Paulus helped clear a backlog of 70 tons per week for 62 exporters by securing permission to bring in an aircraft for cargo transportation. He also facilitated self-handling to reduce shipping costs for exporters.
  • 2002: He became the District Manager for Expo Aviation Pvt. Ltd., a cargo freighter operating between Trivandrum, Male, Dubai, and Colombo. His extensive experience continued to drive the success of various operations in the region.
  • 2007: Mr. Paulus joined Maldivian Airline as its India Representative. He played a vital role in establishing the airline’s successful twice-daily operations between Trivandrum and Male. In 2009, he and his team received accolades for their exceptional ground handling services at Trivandrum Airport, with the airline ranking 4th out of 75 foreign airlines operating in India based on punctuality.

Current Roles and Contributions:

Mr. Paulus continues to contribute to the aviation industry as an advisor for various cargo and passenger airlines operating across Sri Lanka, UAE, and India. He is also an advisor to ARHAT Pvt. Ltd., a security-cleared ground handling company authorized to handle aircraft across India. Additionally, he serves as the Managing Director of S&J Travel & Cargo Services Pvt. Ltd., an IATA-approved freight forwarding and travel agency, which is recognized as one of the leading players in the industry. His contributions extend beyond operations, as he has actively participated in international conferences, including those organized by the Civil Aviation Ministry, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), and International Air Transport Association (IATA), where he has shared his insights on various aviation and ground handling issues.
